Report: 16-inch MacBook Pro Will Be Powered by Intel’s 9th Gen Processors

It is a well-known secret that Apple is prepping 16-inch MacBook Pro. The latest MacBook Pro is expected to launch in September or October. According to analyst Jeff Kin, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will be powered by Intel’s 9th Gen Cofee Lake processors.

If this is indeed true, then the new MacBook Pro will be powered by 8-core i9 processor clocked at 2.4GHz which supports Turbo Boost frequency of 5.0GHz. Meanwhile, you will also be able to choose the 6-core Core i7 processor. Both the said chipsets come with Intel UHD Graphics 630.

The analyst also claims that 16-inch MacBook Pro will hit the production line in September or October. It is worth noting that Apple has not decided to go for the Intel 10th Gen Ice Lake processor, perhaps it is because the latest Intel processor is yet to offer 6/8-core options.

Thanks to the rumor mills we already know that the 16-inch MacBook Pro will come with scissor mechanism keyboard. As of now, Apple uses butterfly keyboards which are prone to repeated failures and suffer from reliability issues. The upcoming MacBook will feature a 16-inch display that offers a resolution of 3,072×1,920 pixels with a pixel density of 227.

As of now, we are not sure whether or not the 15-inch MacBook Pro will be continued. Logically it doesn’t make much sense to offer two variants with little difference in display sizes. Recent rumors have also hinted at narrow bezels. The backups you will get from these methods are not human readable: you can only read them when you recover data from your iPhone backup.
Bonus 1: What To Do If You Forgot iTunes Backup Password

You will need to backup your data on iTunes with a password. When there is need to recover the backup data, you will need the password to access the backup files. If you forget the password, you cannot access the files unless you use an efficient recovery software.

Huawei’s Founder Will “Protest” if China Launches a Retaliation against Apple

Huawei has been dominating the headlines during the past few weeks due to their blacklisting from the US market as well as blacklisting from doing any business with American companies. With multiple backs and forths between the US, China, Huawei and Apple, yet another character has shown up to comment. Huawei’s founder, Ren Zhengfei, has reportedly taken a surprising stance on Apple’s and the US’s side in the case.

Mr Zhengfei has disclosed, in an interview with Bloomberg, that he sees Apple as a “teacher”, and would protest if China set sanctions on the company as revenge for Huawei’s US blacklisting.

“That will not happen, first of all. And second of all, if that happens, I’ll be the first to protest […] Apple is my teacher, it’s in the lead. As a student, why go against my teacher? Never.”

Mr Zhengfei’s stance seems to be based on the principle of respect, something that Asian cultures and especially the Chinese value very highly. In a rough translation, it’s called “face” in English, meaning mostly that you always represent someone, be it your family, yourself or your company and thereby you should do right by others in order to not affect the reputation of yourself or your associates.

Huawei has not commented on a theoretical “Apple Ban”, and Mr Zhangfei’s words shouldn’t be taken as an official statement from the company, however, with the founder clearly being against such a thing, it puts pressure on Huawei to not get involved in Apple – China relations at all or take Apple’s side, which is not preferable from the company’s business perspective.

Privacy has been a huge concern lately, with Facebook’s reputation being destroyed, Google in the fire for collecting data and Apple focusing on pro-privacy ads. All the world want’s to talk about nowadays is their own privacy. And rightly so.

Apple has allowed some form of adblocking in the past, however, that’s unpreferable to a lot of users as many of the websites they visit depend solely on ad-revenue. Individual YouTuber’s come to mind due to the outcry of creators that have lost their daily hood because of YouTube’s Adpocalypse.

Browsers like Brave have outed themselves by supporting privacy-respecting ads and even by paying users a portion of the profit. The company’s WebKit engineer behind Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention, John Wilander, has stepped forward and informally announced something called “The Privacy Preserving Ad Click Attribution”.

In short, this is not truly an adblocker. Most ads displayed on the web put a cookie in your browser that essentially knows how you surf the web, where you are and what you do. This is all to maximise the potential of showing you an ad that you’d be interested in.

Ever Googled “cheap gaming mouse” and ended up seeing an ad for Amazon Basics Mouse for months with no end in sight? This is because the network has identified you as a potential customer. While we aren’t here to criticise the preciseness of the technology, the privacy concerns arise. This single ad could be following you everywhere on the internet and know exactly what websites you visit, ultimately “fingerprinting” you which is a term used to… I won’t explain the obvious.

Apple’s idea is to prevent this from happening, but without advertisers losing out on data they actually need:

The combination of third-party web tracking and ad campaign measurement has led many to conflate web privacy with a web free of advertisements. We think that’s a misunderstanding. Online ads and measurement of their effectiveness do not require Site A, where you clicked an ad, to learn that you purchased something on Site B. The only data needed for measurement is that someone who clicked an ad on Site A made a purchase on Site B.

Samsung Has No Idea When It Will Start Shipping Galaxy Fold Pre-Orders

Samsung’s woes with the Galaxy Fold don’t seem to end. After pushing the handset’s release date last month due to screen reliability complaints from reviewers, the company now says that it has no firm date as to when it will ship the pre-orders.

In an email sent out to customers, Samsung informed them that if they did not hear back from them by May 31st, it will automatically cancel their Galaxy Fold pre-order. As per U.S. regulations, Samsung was obliged to inform its customers that pre-orders would be canceled if not shipped by May 31.

“If we do not hear from you and we have not shipped by May 31st, your order will be canceled automatically,” the South Korean tech giant’s U.S. subsidiary told Galaxy Fold pre-order customers in an email late on Monday, which was confirmed by a Samsung spokeswoman.

The $1,980 Galaxy Fold was initially supposed to ship late last month — April 26. However, around a week before its release, reviewers found major screen reliability issues with the Galaxy Fold which led Samsung to take back all the units and delay the launch to fix the design issue. Since then, Samsung has been mum as to when it plans on shipping out Galaxy Fold to pre-order customers with a more reliable design.



The Galaxy Fold has been designed in such a way that debris got below the screen which in turn led to the screen breaking or affected its functionality. Samsung needs to find a way to stop dust ingress in the device without radically redesigning it to ensure that the display reliability is not compromised in any way.

The Galaxy Fold could have been the first foldable device in the world sold to consumers. Despite its high price tag of almost $2,000, the pre-order stock ran out almost instantly across major U.S. carriers. Due to these reliability issues though, the consumer interest and hype around foldable smartphones have taken a hit and Samsung’s brand image has also once again taken a hit. Now, most consumers are looking forward to the Huawei Mate X which is expected to start shipping from later this month.

How to Locate a Lost Apple Watch Using Find My iPhone

Find My iPhone is an iOS feature that enables you to locate lost or misplaced Apple devices – including your Apple Watch. If you've already set up Find My iPhone on your paired iPhone, it's automatically enabled on your Apple Watch too.






When you sign in to iCloud.com or the Find My iPhone app, you can see your Apple Watchon a map and play a sound to locate it if it's nearby. Find My iPhone also has a Lost Mode to lock, track, or remotely erase all of your personal information.



Locating an Apple Watch Lost Nearby

You can find your Apple Watch using the Find My iPhone app on iOS devices and iCloud.com. If your Apple Watch is powered on, it will show up on the Find My iPhone map just like an iPad, iPhone, or Mac.


Launch the Find My iPhone app on an iOS device or iCloud.com.


Tap the Apple Watch in the list.


Tap Actions.


Tap Play Sound.



A soft chirping sound will start playing after you initiate the "Play Sound" command, which will gradually get louder and louder with each chirp to make the Apple Watch easier to locate.



Locating an Apple Watch Lost Far Away

The way Find My iPhone works with an Apple Watch that's lost far away depends on the model. Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 4 use GPS and a trusted Wi-Fi or cellular connection to give you their approximate location, while Apple Watch Series 2 uses GPS and a trusted Wi-Fi connection. Apple Watch Series 1 models don't feature GPS, and they can only use the location of your paired iPhone or its Wi-Fi connection, making locating them at a distance impossible unless your iPhone is also nearby.




For these reasons, using Find My iPhone to locate an Apple Watch Series 2, Series 3, or Series 4 that's been left behind isn't going to be very accurate, but it will give you a general idea of where the watch was lost so you can go back to that location. When attempting to locate an Apple Watch this way, tap the little car icon and it will give you Apple Maps directions to the last known location.



How to Put Your Apple Watch in Lost Mode

If you didn't turn on Find My iPhone before your Apple Watch was lost or stolen and your watch isn't connected to Wi-Fi, cellular, or your paired iPhone, you can't use it to locate your device. However, you can put your Apple Watch in Lost Mode, which ensures your passcode is required before anyone can turn off Find My iPhone, erase your watch, or pair it with another iPhone.


Launch the Find My iPhone app on your iPhone.


Tap your Apple Watch in the list of devices.


Tap Actions.


Tap Lost Mode.


Confirm that you want to lock your watch and tap Turn on Lost Mode.


Enter a phone number where you can be reached, then tap Next.


Enter the message that you want to appear on the watch screen.


Tap Done.

iOS 13 Will Add Support for USB Mouse on iPad Pro

Apple will reportedly be adding native support for USB mouse to the iPad Pro with the upcoming iOS 13 update. The feature will be added as an accessibility one from Apple which means that users will first have to enable it from the Settings menu before they can use a mouse on their iPad Pro.

Right now, iOS only supports joystick, trackball, and other similar hardware as a part of AssitiveTouch feature. With iOS 13 though, users would be able to directly plug in a mouse and start using it on your iPad Pro. The revelation was first made by MacStories founder Viticci on the latest episode of Connected FM podcast and was confirmed by developer Steve Stroughton-Smith as well.

Unlike Windows and macOS though, iOS will not show the mouse pointer on-screen. Instead, Apple is looking to replace it with a small dot or circle, though the final decision is still unclear.

iOS 13 is going to pack a number of changes that will help make the iPad Pro better at multitasking. The new set of APIs will allow third-party apps to directly access photos stored on an external flash drive connected to an iPad Pro and skip the Photos app completely. Apple is also going to make multitasking improvements which include apps having multiple windows and sheets which can be pinned to the display and moved anywhere. It will also introduce a system-wide undo gesture along with one to select multiple items or files at once.
