First Images of Truly Wireless Beats ‘Powerbeats Pro’ Headphones Surface

It has been only a week since a report outlined the Apple-owned Beats brand’s effort to build new, truly wireless Powerbeats headphones.

And now, following the public launch of iOS 12.2 earlier today, the first images of those headphones have surfaced. 9to5Mac was first with the report on Monday, showcasing the new, upcoming headphones along with the charging case. The images, and animations, are buried within iOS 12.2, and suggest that the Beats-branded headphones are indeed heading down the pike.

The images include the “Powerbeats Pro” headphones, which are truly wireless in design. That means there won’t be any wires connecting the headphones to the phone, or to each individual earbud for that matter. Just like the Apple AirPods (which were upgraded recently). The charging case appears to be similar in size to the AirPods’ as well:

“Furthermore, iOS 12.2 includes an image of the Powerbeats Pro charging case. This case looks similar to the AirPods case, and will theoretically charge your Powerbeats Pro buds when not in use. Powerbeats3 today offer battery life of up to 12 hours, but it’s unclear if the truly wireless version would be able to match that. The charging case, however, would make it easier for users to charge while on the go.”

This design will likely be a welcomed one for folks who want the Beats-branded quality in their headphone, with that heavier bass, but want a workout-friendly option rather than the AirPods. That’s why the Powerbeats Pro aren’t likely to eat up AirPods sales. They are serving distinct customers.

No word on when the Powerbeats Pro will launch, or how much they will cost yet. But that should be coming soon.
Our Take

This is a great addition to the Beats lineup. Of course, there is word on the street that Apple is working on water/sweat resistant AirPods, too, so it will be interesting if those ever see the light of day now that the Powerbeats Pro look to be launching soon.
We Want To Hear From You

Will you pick up these new Powerbeats options? Or will you wait to see what Apple has in store for the AirPods?
